Let's listen to a dialogue about a story titled “The Monkey’s Paw.” While listening, fill in the blanks using the words that you have learned.

Alma : Have you ever read a story, titled, The Monkey's Paw?" W.W. Jacobs wrote it.

Hira : Of course. I remember reading that in English class. Isn't this a _____(1) story?

Alma : Definitely! It has stuck with me ever since. So let me tell you about it. It all began with this family, the Whites, who came into ownership of a magical monkey's ______(2).

Hira : Oh, I remember that part! They were told that the paw could grant three wishes, right?

Alma : Exactly! But here is where things get more interesting. The father, Mr. White, made a wish for money. He thought that it would solve all their problems.

Hira : Ah, the typical _____(3) for fortune. But from what I could guess, it didn't come out as planned.

Alma : You got it. The wish came true, but not in the way they hoped. Their son, who worked at a local factory, got a work accident for which they received compensation.
